Golden Lane Record, recording 50 years of Golden Lane Estate in personal stories

June 2007

In June 2007, to commemorate the 50th birthday of the Golden Lane Estate, a group of residents have formed ‘Golden Lane Record’ to celebrate the life of the Estate through an oral history document and series of events.

This work will be launched in 2008 summer at the EXHIBIT Gallery and in a market place which will be organized for the communal areas of the estate. The oral history will bring together personal stories to reflect the diversity of living and working in this famous modernists’ social housing. This follows from and expands the work made for the last two Golden Lane Estate Exhibitions at the London Architecture Biennale 2004 and 2006. Golden Lane Records are looking into the possibilities of curating a series of exhibitions involving the artists and designers living on the estate, where work will be presented in a series of open- show-flats.
