Ikuko Iwamoto

Disciple of Asuka Tsuboi, the renowned Japanese ceramic master, Iwamoto receives over 10 years experience of expressing herself in media of ceramic art. Graduated in the Royal College of Art in 2006 and winner of The Clerkenwell Award and Future Foundation Inclusive Design Research Award in 2006, Iwamoto makes exquisite cups and other objects for bizarre tea ceremonies. Be gesture, they suggest the everyday, the ordinary existence, yet the delicate nature is in fact extra-ordinary. Her works play on the balance of intricacy and detail, mathematical pattern and organic chaos, of beauty and repulsion.
