China Now at EXHIBIT

Feb 2008

This year for China Now, EXHIBIT will collaborate with Chinese Artist, Lam Tung Pang, to share his latest experience of working in Beijing and Hong Kong. During his study in London for a MA degree in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in 2004 and 2005, Lam took the pride of winning two significant UK art awards, Young Artist of the Year, Hunting Art Prize UK 2005 and Chichester Open Art UK 2004. In 2006, Lam returned to his home land where he was awarded with the Schoeni Prize, Sovereign Asian Art Prizes, and decided to spend some time living in Beijing and set up his studio there for his new exploration journey.

In this solo debut exhibition, “CITIES Project – Where is my Mum?”, Lam Tung Pang’s work will draw delicate comparisons and examine similarities by means of mundane objects, paintings and light sculptures to create an intriguing tension between locations, the memory and the actual, to express an interweaving relationship between the 3 cities which he had and currently resides in; Hong Kong, Beijing and London.
