Chinese Comics Exhibition

March 11th, 2008

You’ve no doubt heard of Japanese comics - aka manga - but now get ready for Manhua - Chinese comics and graphic novels.

As part of the China Now festival, the London College of Communication at Elephant and Castle is hosting a fascinating exhibition, showcasing the past, present and future of Chinese comics.

Taking place from 10 March until 11 April 2008, the beautifully arranged exhibition incorporates palm-size booklets from the 1920s, taking us right up to date to contemporary artists such as Benjamin and Mr Clement. There are over 200 pieces of artwork on display, along with actual comics, models and a special reading area where you can sample the work.

The creation of digital comics is shown step by step on monitor screens, and there will be special workshops, masterclasses and panels throughout the course of the show (on the 19th and 25th March - and our dearest friend from Hong Kong, Craig AuYeung, is invited by the organisation as the guest speaker).

This exhibition is completely free and well worth a visit. Head on over to www.chinanow.org.uk for more details. Have FUN!
