“I am comfortable with death in a way that isn’t very common in contemporary times” said photographer & artist Joss Mckinley.

Mckinley graduated the LCC’s MA Photograhy course in 2006 and his first solo show, currently showing at EXHIBIT as our 11th Empty Space Projects, continues his preoccupation with the deceased. Four photographs in limited edition, titles The Moonlight Rooms, will be available for aspiring art collector after the exhibition ended on 22 March.

Alongside The Moonlight Rooms series of images, the exhibition is also showing the fruits of some collaboration work completed by Mckinley’s father, aptly named “Mckinley and Son” and a texidermist, and jeweller Hannah Martin, in a series of bejewelled birds - The New Zeland Black Swan (Picture above) and the Crow (below) with a gold bill is a real fine piece of gems.

Each of these decorated macabre is without doubt One-Off, and sadly the so little and sweet Song Thrush is no longer available!
