Gallery . Community . Shop . Studio

EXHIBIT is a Design Gallery at the renowned Golden Lane Estate in the Barbican area of London. The highly regarded 1950’s modernist architecture of the estate provides a living context for the work of the Gallery and direct dialogue between public interest and the modernism architecture through the transparent shop front of the gallery.

EXHIBIT was set up by two residents and designers, Yanki Lee and Alan Lam, from the estate in November 2005 to:

1. Provide a valuable venue in central London and promotional platform for emerging designers and artists to show and sell their work at key early stages of their career development.

2. Curate a series of events, which contextualise the social aspects of contemporary design and attract a public of informed and new visitors through exhibitions, live performance, publications, open lectures, product development and marketing. As curators we select works appropriate and responsive to the social context related to the design aspect of our built environment so that the gallery is situated both as a social and as a business space - showing sensitivity both to the site and to those who work with us.
