THE SUPER ESTATE Launch - Artists Introductory Presentation.

After the last exhibition “Housing and Architecture: 50 years of Golden Lane Estate” completed on 23 May, our next project, an Artists Residency Programme, is currently in preparation.

It is called “Golden Lane: THE SUPER ESTATE – 10 Ideas, 20 Months, 50th anniversary“

We are currently hosting an introductory presentation of The Super Estate to showcase a flavour of the participating artists’ works. Residents and public are welcome to linger and contemplate their future vision of the super estate. We hope that through The Super Estate, forward thinking ideas in communal living and sustainable cultural development can be provoked. Overall the programme aims to encourage an ongoing creative conversation that keeps the community at its heart.

The first event had ran successfully in conjunction with the Golden Lane Summer Market Day on 6 June 2009. British artist, Kathryn Faulkner, invited all stall holders and residents to collaborate and participate with her Ring of Gold idea as she moved along the row taking a continuous communal image. These images will then be weaved together to create a short animated film, screened at EXHIBIT throughout July, to reflect the community spirit of the Golden Lane Estate.
