The Golden Lane community (550+ flats) has a high proportion of age group of 45-59 (23% in the City of London Council which 16% in London and 19% in the whole England. (Information from 2001 Census - now in 2009 this group will require positive ageing strategies).
Currently there are only two local initiatives directed by this age group in the estate, the Sir Ralph Perring Club, one of which is unorganised, lacks resources (unfunded) and is soon to loose its premises. Through our community engagement in the past three years, we have identified a need to develop new and sustainable resources with this age group.
On-going interviews and engagement aim to get them on broad to think the future together and share their past!
