For EXHIBIT’s inaugural exhibition, the gallery has turned into an eye-popping installation by Hong Kong artist, anothermountainman, whose work is shown for the first time in the UK, direct from the 51st Biennale in Venice.

Anothermountainman is renowned for his endless expression of the iconic “red-white-blue” material and the symbolic inspiration he found through it. To the artist this plastic fabric represents a contemplative reference of the spirit of Hongkong – a state of mind shaped by the working class who contributed to its economic development throughout the 60s and 70s.

The body of work, entitled from-London-to-Hongkong-to-London, centers on a new installation and a series of photography depicting his symbolic play with this mundane plastic fabric.

The basement installation featured various colonial style objects that he found and dressed using the iconic fabric, revealing new ways of looking at the familiar. The entire basement was furnished with the fabric from floor to ceiling, turning it into an eccentric and powerful depiction of the three colours.
